Creating Good Vibes

Sofia Pina, also known as Ms. Sofia, is a passionate music educator and performer. She teachers both voice and Music for Little Mozart Piano at Music Maker Workshops (MMW) in Ahwatukee where she incorporates a teaching style that is imaginative, fun, educational, and encouraging.
ms. Sofia has a cheery personality and strives to create an imaginative environment to help students as they connect to their music, explore their character, or learn to improvise a melody.
She also loves hearing information she learned as a vocal performance student at the University of Texas in Austin, which includes details on vocal pedagogy, language dictation, music theory, music history and other educational subjects.
She encourages her students in every way because, as she says, ‘it promotes the positive experience I want all my students to have, and I believe the end result is bigger when we are having a great time together.
The joy Ms. Sofia has her music stems from a family that encouraged her to follow her heart at an early age; she was able to work with “many wonderful teachers,” as she studied, ‘piano, guitar, ukulele, saxophone and voice.”
As she moved into her tween and teen years, Sofia found herself gravitating toward things where she could create music. She describes herself as “a band kid, a theater kid, and a choir kid still, deep in [her] roots.”
As mentioned, Ms. Sofia made her way to the University of Texas in Austin where she studied vocal performance. While studying vocal technique, she had many per performance experiences in operas, musicals, chamber choir, show choir, and jazz ensembles; she also worked as a choir section leader and, in her spare time, she “served tables and performed at a sweet o’southern comfort food restaurant.”
she later became a preschool teacher, an early childhood music teacher, and a private lesson music teacher. She was expecting to continue teaching in Austin, but life and different plans for Ms. Sofia. Her partner was offered a position in Phoenix, so at the beginning of 2023 she found her self moving once again!
She had an idea of Phoenix before she arrived because she had visited relatives here nearly every year of her childhood. Upon her arrival Ms. Sofia quickly found Music Maker Workshops, where she has put down some roots and now she “can’t wait to see the flowers grow.”
